Big queue at Giant Puchong

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

What a lousy way to start the morning. Its National Day in Malaysia. Happy 49th Birthday to Malaysia. And how did I spend the morning ? I wasted 35 minutes queing up to pay for my 2 items (a laundry mat and prunes) at the Express Counter over at Giant Hypermarket, Bandar Puteri Puchong because of some mismanagement. I hope this comes out first page in the Star tomorrow just to give the Giant management a reminder that people don’t like queues…..

The problem why the queue was slow at Giant today is because they are having a promotion on certain items like Pampers and Darlie toothpaste. A lot of people just came to buy those items and somehow the POS system was not updated with the correct prices. They had 1 supervisor going around my 4 express counters trying to change the prices. Now that’s why the queue was longer than that in the Sunway toll !!!!! Crap!

The problem was only resolved when the supervisor rebooted the POS system. Darn. He should have done it earlier. I could see blood oozing out from his sweat as a lot of people were fuming over the long queue. I will NEVER ever goto Giant again on public holidays. I will visit either Tesco or Carrefour…..Man….The management at Giant has better do something about it……Dairy Farm people, are you hearing this ???

Toll-free Subang Jaya-Puchong bridge delay

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

Another big project delay by Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ)…How long do we have to keep on paying RM1 just to cross to Sunway and Subang Jaya ?? Only Heaven knows…..meanwhile I’m going to take a bus…

PUCHONG residents said the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) should not abandon the project to create a toll-free link to Subang Jaya since it was part of the original development plans for Puchong.

Kinrara assemblyman and MPSJ councillor Dr Kow Cheong Wei refuted claims that the council was calling off the project but added it was merely postponing it.

Pusat Bandar Puchong resident Jonathan Chang said the residents had been waiting for decades for the link, which would include a bridge over Klang River.

He said the link would provide a shortcut between Puchong and Subang Jaya as the road would only be a few kilometres long compared to the much longer distance they would have to travel along the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP).

“There a lot of residents in Puchong who work in Subang Jaya especially at the industrial zone in USJ 1 and vice versa so the link and these people now have to depend on the LDP and the Shah Alam Expressway (SAE) to commute to work,” he said.

OCBC has opened its 27th branch in Bandar Puteri, Puchong on 18 Aug 2006. Other banks nearby include Citibank, Ambank, StanChart. The new OCBC branch is also located near Giant and Yogazone.

OCBC Bank Bhd, has spent RM5 million to open up a branch in Bandar Puteri Puchong in Selangor. Datuk Albert Yeoh, director and chief executive officer, said the new Puchong branch would serve the needs of small and medium-scaled enterprises (SMEs) and corporate customers in the area as well as in the surrounding vicinity.

According to the Star, they are also setting up four branches by the end of the year, bringing the total number to 29. “We will have branches in Bukit Damansara, Puchong, Miri and Batu Maung in Penang up and running by year’s end,” director and chief executive officer Datuk Albert Yeoh told reporters at the presentation of prizes to winners of its “Luxury Condo” contest yesterday.

Yeoh said the Puchong branch has 27 staff workers as well 60 additional mobile staff that will go out to serve the bank’s customer needs and attract potential customers. “They (the mobile staff) are very important as they represent another channel of distribution for the bank,” he said. The latest Puchong branch will bring OCBC Bank’s branch network to 27. In September, the bank will open a branch in Miri followed by Bukit Damansara in October. Yeoh said the investments for both banks were between RM3 million and RM4 million each.
